Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends, Patrons and Appreciators of Friedrich Becker’s oeuvre,
Our society was founded under the aegis of Friedrich Becker’s wife, Hilde Becker. As its chairwoman, she exercised a pivotal influence on the Society until her death. With her comprehensive knowledge and memories of her husband’s work, she has endowed us with a rich body of experience. We deem it both an obligation and an honour to fulfil her desire to preserve her husband’s oeuvre for posterity. Friedrich Becker was one of the great artists of the twentieth century. True to the spirit of Hilde Becker, we will continue to pursue the Society’s joint mission of preserving the artist’s legacy and of investing in the future by promoting young artists.

Hilde Becker (05.03.1928–15.08.2018)
It is with great sadness, but overwhelming gratitude for her support that we must inform you of the passing of Hilde Becker on 15.08.2018 at the age of 90 in Düsseldorf.
Hilde Becker, née Kückelmann, married Friedrich Becker in 1952 and was both the love of his life and his greatest advocate. She accompanied and supported him untiringly on his unparalleled rise to become a celebrated artist of world renown. In particular, by devoting herself to all the organisational and business affairs, she relieved him entirely of all those chores, so that Friedrich Becker was able to concentrate fully on his creative work and artistic activities. As such, Hilde Becker well deserves her fair share of recognition in her husband’s success.
For our part, we knew Hilde Becker as an endearing grounded personality, who always helped us both in our work for the Society and on a private level, and who supported us with great zest to the end. The founding of our Society in 2010 was largely due to the commitment of Hilde Becker. From its inception, she held a seat on the Board of Directors as chairwoman and played a decisive role in the aims and projects that we will continue to pursue in her spirit.
We mourn the passing of Hilde Becker and will always honour her memory.
